GMs Gukesh D. & Praggnanandhaa R. were the 2021 and 2022 Norway Chess Open winners respectively. Also the then 16-year-old Savitha Shri B. has completed her second IM norm in Norway Chess Open 2023.

About Us

An open tournament, held parallel to the Norway Chess and Norway Chess Women Supertournaments, for players with an ELO of at least 1800 (in the official FIDE lists from February, March, April or May), Suitable for title norms.

Entry fee

Entry fees in the GM group are free for players with a GM, IM or WGM title, and for other players with an ELO of at least 2400 in the official rating list of May.

Other players with an ELO of 2300–2399 and players with a WIM title will pay 100 Euros, while players with an ELO of 2150-2299 pay 150 Euros and players with an ELO below 2150 pay 200 Euros.

Players born 2004 or later will get a 20 Euros junior discount on the entry fee.

Playing venue is Clarion Hotel Energy

The playing hotel offers participants and their accompanying persons a discounted price for hotel rooms with breakfast buffet.

The discount is valid for rooms between the days of the tournament.

We recommend players to book hotel rooms as soon as possible, as room shortage might be a problem the last weeks before the tournament.
