Rounds

9 rounds Swiss tournament in 7 days, Two double rounds

Time control

90' for 40 moves and then 30' for the rest of the game, with a 30'' increment from move 1

Title norm

Participants must play all nine rounds if they want to make title norms possible.

Registration is open online until May 15th, 22:00 UTC

Schedule

9 rounds in 7 days, with 2 double rounds, and no free day. Players finding this schedule too hard are welcome to request a walk-over draw for one or two games within the first seven rounds. Note however, that participants in the GM group must play all nine rounds if they want to make title norms possible.

Prizes

The GM Open Tournament has a total prize fund of 7,050€, and all top prizes are shared in case of equal points. Both female prizes can be won by the same player, and the ELO prize can only be won by participants playing eight or nine games. Lastly, to compete for the best senior prize, a player must be born in 1974 or an earlier year.​

Entry fee

Entry fees in the GM group are free for players with a GM, IM or WGM title, and for other players with an ELO of at least 2400 in the official rating list of May 2024.

Other players with an ELO of 2300–2399 and players with a WIM title will pay 100 Euros, while players with an ELO of 2150-2299 pay 150 Euros and players with an ELO below 2150 pay 200 Euros.

Players born 2004 or later will get a 20 Euros junior discount on the entry fee.

The playing hotel offers participants and their accompanying persons a discounted price for hotel rooms with breakfast buffet.
Cost each night:
Single room – 1190 NOK
Double room – 1390 NOK

The discount is valid for rooms between May 23rd and June 3rd.

We recommend players to book hotel rooms as soon as possible and not later than March 31st, as room shortage might be a problem the last weeks before the tournament.
